According to CoinMeta, Kenta Tadaide, the chief foreign exchange strategist at Yamato Securities, stated that any unexpected intervention measures taken by the Japanese government to support the yen may merely be a temporary expedient to buy time. "In order to maximize the effect of exchange rate intervention, monetary policy must remain in the same direction," he said. He added, "While the market generally expects the Bank of Japan to maintain its policy interest rates unchanged in today's decision, the market's attention is focused on the message conveyed in its policy statement and the press conference held by Governor Haruhiko Kuroda."
