According to CoinMeta, professors Percy Liang and Simile CEO Joon Sung Park from Stanford University published a blog post stating that AI is entering an "era of simulation." They believe that AI's most impressive achievements to date have all occurred in scenarios with clear environmental and reward functions. Simile completed a $200 million Series B financing round, with a post-funding valuation of $2 billion, aiming to accurately simulate 8 billion people globally. The company uses real human data to train "AI avatars," allowing businesses to simulate the reactions of different groups of people before implementing products, marketing strategies, and policies. The model from Simile has been run tens of millions of times for Fortune 100 companies, and clients can survey hundreds of thousands to millions of AI avatars at once.
