Mara CEO: Bitcoin has missed the opportunity to become a payment tool
2026-08-01 18:01:23
According to CoinMeta, CEO Fred Thiel of Mara stated in an interview on July 23 that the opportunity for Bitcoin to serve as a medium of payment and exchange has passed. In business scenarios where thousands of transactions need to be completed per second and the profit per transaction is low, even slight fluctuations in Bitcoin's price can affect the actual value received. Therefore, commercial applications of cryptocurrencies in fields such as AI are more likely to be achieved through stablecoins. Nevertheless, Bitcoin is still suitable as a value storage tool that is decentralized and capable of rapid transfers.
