According to CoinMeta, the Russian government announced that it will extend the ban on cryptocurrency mining in certain areas of Moscow and Kursk region starting from August 15, 2026, with the ban lasting until December 31, 2032. The ban was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on July 25 and was published on the official legal information portal on July 31. The ban applies to all digital currency mining and participation in mining pools in Moscow and its surrounding areas. According to the explanation of the Ministry of Energy, not implementing a year-long restriction could lead to a risk of insufficient power supply.
