According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Reuters, Japanese Finance Minister Taro Katsuki will announce on Monday that Tokyo and Washington will take joint action in the foreign exchange market to curb the yen from falling to a 40-year low. Two Japanese government officials revealed that Katsuki may emphasize the two countries' determination to counter excessive yen depreciation. This joint intervention is expected to be the first of its kind since 2011, with the aim of boosting the yen's exchange rate against the US dollar. The Japanese government has been buying yen during New York trading hours, and market sources say it may have sold approximately $58.97 billion to support the yen.
