Gen X The trend of "reversal of retirement age" faces challenges to social security: The first generation's full retirement age is 67 years old

According to CoinMeta, the Gen X (born between 1965 and 1980) are facing a "reversed retirement" trend that comes with a hidden social security risk: they are the first generation to have a mandatory retirement age of 67. Applying for social security benefits at an earlier age of 62 will result in a permanent 30% reduction in benefits. Additionally, if one's annual income exceeds $24,480 while receiving social security benefits, it will trigger a income test, leading to a deduction of $2 from the benefits for every dollar that exceeds this limit. It is estimated that by the fourth quarter of 2032, the social security trust fund will be depleted, and the benefits that can be paid out may drop to 78%.
