According to CoinMeta, as reported by Daily Mail, a jury at the London Crown Court in the UK found several defendants guilty in a kidnapping and ransom case targeting cryptocurrency holders. The prosecution stated that two French cryptocurrency millionaires were illegally detained for about 52 hours in London in 2025 by a criminal gang and were forced to transfer approximately $30,000 in cryptocurrency. The criminal gang demanded a ransom of up to $150,000. The police eventually rescued the victims through mobile phone tracking and rapid pursuit, and several defendants were convicted of extortion and illegal detention. The mastermind of the case is still at large.
