According to CoinMeta, monitored by Chainalysis, Hexagate detected an attack on the LpdFi protocol, resulting in a loss of approximately $700,000. The attacker borrowed around $44 million in lightning loans and manipulated the price of LPD tokens on the decentralized exchange (DEX) to 71 times their original value. Subsequently, they used tokens worth about $2 million to create a fake deposit of around $140 million within the protocol. The attacker collected the interest on this position for one day, triggering the protocol to liquidate its liquidity pool and pay out the stolen funds. After repaying the loan, the attacker made a profit of about $700,000 and transferred the funds through Relay and Tornado Cash.
