According to CoinMeta, in an interview on August 3, Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour defended market operators, stating that the lawsuit filed by New York State, which seeks at least $3.6 billion in compensation and related relief, threatens the broader event contract business. The case has been transferred from a New York State court to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. The New York application accuses the company of repeatedly violating state gambling laws without obtaining permission from the state gambling commission, and seeks a permanent ban, accounting of customer activities, compensation, and civil fines. Mansour also stated that New Yorkers earned over $200 million through the Kalshi platform in 2026, and proposed that the system could generate nearly $10 billion in tax revenue for the state government within five years.
