According to CoinMeta, Patrick Stephen Yaroch, the former FBI supervisor, was accused of secretly transferring cryptocurrencies related to foreign adversaries during an anti-intelligence investigation, with an amount approaching one million US dollars. According to the criminal complaint filed in the Virginia Federal Court, Yaroch utilized his access to the internal systems of FBI to obtain wallet recovery credentials related to the investigation and transferred the cryptocurrencies to personally controlled wallets through a series of unauthorized transactions. Investigators stated that he made about ten transfers over several months, and some of the assets were subsequently deposited into the decentralized lending platform SuiLend to generate profits. The case came to light after Yaroch voluntarily admitted his actions to officials from the Department of Justice and personnel from FBI. During a search at his residence by federal agents, they discovered cryptocurrency hardware and handwritten wallet mnemonic phrases.
