According to CoinMeta, financial regulatory authorities in the United States and the United Kingdom have expanded discussions on the regulation of stablecoins, tokenization, and digital assets, as the U.S. begins to implement the "Innovative Finance Act." On August 4th, senior officials from the UK Treasury and the U.S. Treasury held the 13th Anglo-American Financial Regulatory Working Group meeting in London. No new regulations or binding agreements were reached at the meeting, but both sides reaffirmed their support for the "responsible use and development of digital assets." U.S. officials updated their British counterparts on the implementation of the "Innovative Finance Act," which establishes a federal framework for payment stablecoins. The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is expected to regulate the issuance, custody, and trading of eligible British stablecoins, while the Bank of England will jointly oversee stablecoins that are considered systemically important. The two governments also discussed the risks and opportunities of cross-border payments and plan to hold another working group meeting at the beginning of 2027.
