Swan CEO Klippsten: Users Strengthen Self-Protection After the $1 Million Coldcard Vulnerability
2026-08-05 18:07:25
According to CoinMeta, Swan Bitcoin CEO Cory Klippsten stated that after experiencing a $100 million Coldcard vulnerability, users have begun to place greater emphasis on security measures. Klippsten received news while attending a wedding in Paris, saying, "It was a cruel weekend; many people lost their Bitcoin." Attackers exploited a firmware flaw that had existed for five years, resulting in nearly 1,600 BTC being transferred from about 7,300 addresses. Swan suspended withdrawals for affected customers and provided support for all those in need. Klippsten believes that despite the losses, Bitcoin's resilience is causing users to upgrade their methods of self-storing their assets.
