According to CoinMeta, when SpaceX held its first earnings conference as a listed company, it claimed that its AI expenditures had yielded returns that exceeded expectations. However, investors expressed concerns about whether its Starlink business, which generates profits, could continue to support high levels of investment in data centers and NVIDIA chips. On Wednesday, SpaceX's stock price fell by 9% in pre-market trading, dropping below its $135 IPO. The company reported that AI revenue had more than tripled compared to last year and disclosed several new cloud computing agreements, despite the fact that quarterly AI capital expenditures had risen to $15.8 billion. Chief Financial Officer Bret Johnsen stated that the economic benefits of these investments were improving rapidly, but also hinted that AI expenditures would remain high. Johnsen also mentioned that SpaceX had signed additional cloud computing contracts worth $6.7 billion since the end of the second quarter and expected to achieve annualized revenue of $100 billion by the end of the year. Nevertheless, with capital expenditures in the second quarter amounting to approximately $18.4 billion and continuing to experience deep negative cash flow, SpaceX is still making substantial investments in its AI infrastructure.
