According to CoinMeta, Wu said that the Ethereum Foundation announced funding for the Freedom of Information Foundation through its trillion dollar security (1ts) initiative, to support the ongoing development of the open-source tool Webcat. This tool can help browsers verify whether the front-end code actually loaded by a website is consistent with the code released by the developers, aiming to prevent risks such as front-end tampering, DNS hijacking, and supply chain attacks. This funding will also promote the development of a Webcat verification library suitable for Ethereum wallets, Chromium browser support, independent security audits, and related ERC standard setting, enabling wallets to natively verify the integrity of the front-end DApp, complementing other security solutions such as Clear Signing.
