According to CoinMeta, a senior member of Japan's Liberal Democratic Party has proposed to sell the ETF held by the Bank of Japan (BOJ) to fund Prime Minister Toshimi Suga's plan to reduce the food sales tax from 8% to 1%. The proposal has been approved by the government and is expected to result in an annual revenue shortfall of about 5 trillion yen (approximately $31.71 billion). The member pointed out that BOJ currently holds about 37 trillion yen in ETF, and if sales are accelerated, it may have an impact on the Japanese stock market.
