Over HK$104 million lost in crypto investment scams by "Q Coffee" in Hong Kong

According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Hong Kong 01, the Hong Kong police have received 255 reports related to cryptocurrency investment scams involving "Qucaffe," with a total loss of approximately HKD 104 million. In an update on August 5th, the police stated that the number of reports had increased by 30 since the last notification, and the total loss had risen from HKD 94 million to HKD 104 million. Six people have been arrested and released on bail, while the Macau Judicial Police have also arrested two women in connection with nine cases involving approximately 3.6 million Macau patacas. Investigators are examining individuals related to the promotion activities of this project. Victims claimed to have participated in an investment project called "Qucaffe GCM," with some having joined as early as July 2025. The company claimed to be based in Vietnam and focused on multi-functional coffee equipment and other projects. Investors were instructed to use the cryptocurrency Tether USDT for funding. Police analysis revealed that the advertised annual return rates ranged from 197% to 278%. The scam scheme collapsed on July 20, 2026, and investors were unable to withdraw their deposits or earnings thereafter.
