According to CoinMeta, several leading photovoltaic companies have responded to the additional tariffs imposed by the United States. On August 6th local time, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order that, in accordance with Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, implemented minimum import price and additional tariff measures on imported polysilicon and its derivatives in order to support the domestic polysilicon, semiconductor, and solar supply chains in the United States. Staff from JinkoSolar stated that they need to further assess the new policy, and once it is more clear, they can communicate about it, or they can also refer to third-party analyses. Employees from Trina Solar mentioned that the company mainly sells modules, and polysilicon is just one of the production materials; moreover, their exports of polysilicon to North America are relatively small, so the impact is not significant for now.
