According to CoinMeta, based on cryptorank data, the crypto industry announced a total of 87 mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions in the first half of 2026, which is a 25% decrease compared to the second half of 2025. However, the disclosed transaction amounts rose to $9.66 billion, representing a 223% increase from the previous quarter and setting a new half-year high for this statistic. cryptorank notes that this record-high amount was mainly driven by a few large-scale transactions and an increased disclosure rate, and it does not indicate an overall increase in market valuation. Only 24% of the transactions disclosed their amounts, with the top four transactions contributing 76% of the total disclosed amount. The median amount of the disclosed transactions remained at $100 million. During the same period, infrastructure-related M&As, with 19 transactions, became the largest category of acquisitions, accounting for about 22% of the total. DeFi indicates that the number of M&As in this category decreased to 9.
