According to CoinMeta, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy stated at an investor meeting that Amazon planned to spend about $200 billion on capital projects in 2026. However, financial reports as of July 30 showed that this figure had risen to $220 billion. Jassy pointed out that Amazon's investments are divided into two parts: data centers and internal servers and networking equipment, with the former having a lifespan of over 30 years. Amazon expects to gain economic benefits from these servers for at least five to six generations during this period. Due to the accelerated pace of technological development, Amazon has decided to shorten the lifespan of some servers and networking equipment from six years to five years and to retire certain devices ahead of schedule, which will result in an approximate reduction of $700 million in operating income in 2025.
