Castle Labs Report: BTC Financial Utilization Rate Remains Low
2026-08-08 09:21:46
According to CoinMeta, a report published by Castle Labs states that currently, about 311,000 BTC coins are deployed in scenarios such as DeFi lending, BTC staking, DEX, and yield vaults, accounting for 1.5% of the approximately 20.05 million BTC coins that have been mined. In contrast, about 32.5% of the current circulating supply of ETH is involved in staking and earning native rewards. The report suggests that, compared to Bitcoin's asset size of around $1.3 trillion, the financial utilization rate of BTC is still relatively low. The main reasons include the lack of a native staking mechanism for BTC itself, as well as holders being more cautious regarding custody, cross-chain bridges, smart contracts, and counterparty risks. Currently, BTC related assets account for about 7% of DeFi TVL, with a scale of approximately $5.2 billion.
