The U.S. Senate submits a motion to terminate debate on Clarity Act

According to CoinMeta, the leader of the majority party in the U.S. Senate, John Thune, submitted a motion to terminate debate on the Clarity Act (Digital Assets Market Structure Act) on Saturday morning, paving the way for the bill to enter the Senate's deliberation process after the session resumes in September. The Senate plans to vote on this motion on September 15th. This procedure requires at least 60 votes in support, but it does not mean that the bill itself has been passed or has officially entered the final voting stage. Currently, there are still disagreements between Democrats and Republicans on issues such as ethical provisions, illegal financial regulation, and how to incorporate relevant text from the Senate Agriculture Committee. The Republican Party holds 53 seats in the Senate, and even if all Republicans support the motion, it still requires at least 7 votes from Democrats or independent senators to pass.
