Kosdaq Triggers Circuit Breaker, South Korean Tech Stocks Surge
2026-08-10 10:41:49
According to CoinMeta, South Korea's Kosdaq index triggered its circuit breaker mechanism due to a significant rise in tech stocks. On Monday, the Kosdaq index rose by more than 5%, and the KOSPI index also increased by about 0.8%. This wave of gains is attributed to weak U.S. employment data, which led to a reduction in market expectations for the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates. Although Japan's Nikkei index rose by about 2%, uncertainties in the Middle East limited its further upward momentum. Analysts pointed out that chip stocks in South Korea and Japan are benefiting from the Fed's re-pricing, despite the Middle East risks still putting pressure on the Japanese stock market.
