According to CoinMeta, the first quantum computing-driven cryptographic attack may not leave any traces. The founder of Quantus, Christopher Smith, stated that hackers might not announce their presence by attacking Satoshi Nakamoto’s Bitcoin wallet, but rather could cause a series of untraceable leaks from cryptocurrency wallets. Quantum computers are capable of deriving private keys from public keys, allowing attackers to transfer funds without interfering with the internal systems of wallets or exchanges. Smith warns that the advent of quantum computing could have serious consequences in the future, especially in attacks targeting military systems and state secrets.
