According to CoinMeta, as the peak season comes to an end, imports into the United States are expected to slow down after August. According to reports from the National Retail Federation (NRF) and Hackett Associates, major U.S. ports handled 2.23 million TEUs (TEU) in June, a year-on-year increase of 13.2%. However, this figure is 0.7% lower than that of May. Imports are expected to drop to 2.21 million TEUs in July, a year-on-year decrease of 7.6%, and are projected to further decline to 2.22 million TEUs in August, a year-on-year decrease of 4.2%. Despite this expected decline, the Global Ports Tracker predicts that U.S. ports will maintain a relatively high level of imports until 2025. NRF points out that changes in U.S. tariff policies are a major factor affecting import timing. Retailers are importing goods in advance to avoid a new round of tariffs and to cope with the ongoing disruptions to the supply chain caused by conflicts in the Middle East.
