Ethereum Update Roadmap: Privacy and Quantum Security First
2026-08-11 05:32:17
According to CoinMeta, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin stated that the updated Ethereum roadmap prioritizes privacy and quantum security, with the addition of native Rollups, enhanced privacy, and post-quantum scalability technologies. Buterin compared Ethereum's 2023 roadmap with the current draft, pointing out that the priorities for various technologies have changed over the past three years. Quantum security has been elevated to a more prominent position, while verifiable delay functions and improvements to some Ethereum virtual machines have received less attention. Buterin also mentioned that native privacy is the most clear new addition in Ethereum's long-term direction, with mechanisms being explored including key-controlled randomness, recent roots, Focil components, streamlined privacy pools, and wormholes, among others. Ethereum's draft is not the final timeline but rather a coordinating document covering up to 2029, with specific changes still requiring further study, testing, and agreement among developers.
