2026-08-11 15:28:11
According to CoinMeta, ADI Chain and Shipfinex, a maritime tokenization company based in Dubai, are working to blockchainify the maritime financing market. The total value of global commercial vessels is approximately $2 trillion, yet the financing market remains closed, dominated by a few shipowners, banks, and professional lending institutions. This collaboration aims to open up a financing market worth about $680 billion through blockchain technology, attracting more institutional investors. Vikas Pandey, the CEO of Shipfinex, stated that this partnership will create a regulated digital channel for the market, with all financial instruments being tied to actual vessels and their legal structures. Although no maritime asset tokens have been issued yet, Shipfinex has identified around 35 vessels as candidates for tokenization, with an estimated total value of about $500 million.
