According to CoinMeta, the Bank of England’s (BOE) Digital Pound Laboratory has entered its second phase, where for the first time, it will test the coordinated operation of public stablecoins and central bank digital currencies within the same payment process. This experiment focuses on cross-border trade financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and involves Nobo Finance, Dun, Bradstreet, and Polygon Labs. Exporters can obtain advance financing for accounts receivable through stablecoins, while British importers will use the potential digital pound for final settlement. This experiment does not involve real customers or funds, nor does it indicate that the Bank of England has decided to issue a digital pound. The results of this experiment will be used by the Bank of England and the Ministry of Finance for subsequent evaluations of the digital pound.
