Xapo Bank Forces the activation of location permission, raising concerns about user privacy
2026-08-12 22:44:58
According to CoinMeta, as reported by Bitcoin News, Xapo Bank requires users to enable location tracking permissions in order to use its app. Users are informed that they need to share their GPS coordinates in order to withdraw funds. Xapo Bank stated that it will cross-check this location information with other data to confirm that the account holder actually controls the account. Bitcoin analyst Tone Vays warns that such location tracking requirements may become a standard feature of regulated payment apps. The CEO of Casa, Nick Neuman, believes that this measure is more likely intended to curb social engineering attacks rather than being a traditional KYC precaution.
