According to CoinMeta, the U.S. Treasury Department reported on Wednesday that due to the surge in healthcare costs and the continuous burden of federal debt interest on the national fiscal situation, the U.S. budget deficit in July soared to $432.3 billion, marking the largest monthly deficit since March 2021, an increase of about 48% compared to the same period last year. In addition, the cumulative deficit for the first 10 months of the 2026 fiscal year has approached $1.8 trillion, exceeding the amount for the same period of the 2025 fiscal year. Healthcare expenditures in July amounted to $174 billion, with the annual total reaching $955 billion, far exceeding social security expenditures of $141 billion and net debt interest payments of $104 billion. Tariff refunds had a negative impact of $33 billion on the budget, and fiscal revenue was also hindered by a calendar factor of $99 billion due to the month starting on a non-working day.
