According to CoinMeta, Hawaii will officially enforce a ban on the cryptocurrency ATM on October 1st, becoming the fourth state in the United States to implement such a ban. Governor Josh Green signed Act House Bill in July, which prohibits any entity from owning, operating, or managing digital financial asset transaction terminals that accept exchanges for US dollars. The act cites FBI data indicating that fraud related to digital assets across the United States resulted in losses of over $11 billion in 2025, with 826 complaints from Hawaiian residents and losses amounting to approximately $80 million. CoinATMRadar data shows that there are still 57 cryptocurrency ATM machines in operation on Hawaii's four main islands.
