Jensen Huang smiled: The US will not ban Chinese open-source models for now
2026-08-13 08:21:21
According to CoinMeta, during a closed-door meeting on August 4th, the White House informed companies such as OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic that open-weight models would not be included in the new AI security review framework. As a result, Chinese models like Kimi K3 and DeepSeek do not need to be submitted to the U.S. government for testing before release. Although the White House has just exempted open-source models, it plans to include more capable open models in pre-release testing a week later. The White House expects to continue to promote these new rules in the coming months.
