According to CoinMeta, international oil prices rose on Thursday due to the deterioration of an oil spill incident near Oman. The international benchmark Brent crude oil October futures increased by 1.01% to $88.09 per barrel, while the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil September futures rose by 1.15% to $82.31 per barrel. The coastline of Oman has been affected by a major oil spill caused by a tanker that ran aground on June 30, carrying approximately 800,000 barrels of Russian crude oil and was subject to international sanctions. The International Energy Agency (IEA) stated that global oil demand is expected to decline further due to the deepening impact of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Supply decreased by 6.3 million barrels per day year-on-year in July, and recent deadly attacks on vessels in the Gulf and Red Sea have further exacerbated concerns about supply disruptions.
