Asia-Pacific Market News: Oil Prices Fall Due to Report on Asset Transfer between UAE and Iran
2026-08-13 11:45:49
According to CoinMeta, investment news reports that oil prices fell on Thursday due to the UAE's release of assets frozen from Iran, involving approximately $212 million in gold, with the transfer taking place from August 11th to 12th. If this is true, it would be the third time the UAE government has released such assets, although this claim has not yet been widely confirmed. Additionally, Japan's producer prices in July remained at 7.2% year-on-year, lower than the expected 7.4%, but still higher than historical standards. Both the Australian dollar and the New Zealand dollar weakened; the Australian dollar was affected by remarks from Christopher Kent, the assistant governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia, which were interpreted by the market as dovish. Kent stated that the increase in cash rates is having the expected effect, although inflation risks remain on the upside. The New Zealand dollar weakened due to a decline in inflation expectations for the third quarter, and market expectations for the next interest rate hike by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand have diminished.
