According to CoinMeta, on August 13, Metaplanet CEO Simon Gerovich stated that the Japanese Bitcoin treasury company transferred 5,014 BTC (approximately $322 million) in the past 24 hours, but did not sell any of its held Bitcoins. Gerovich explained that this transfer was a routine custody operation, with transfer fees amounting to about $8. Metaplanet currently holds 43,000 BTC, and all addresses are publicly available, allowing for real-time observation of the transfer process. Previously, on-chain monitoring showed that there was a transfer of 3,881 BTC from the wallet associated with Metaplanet, but it was not confirmed whether these Bitcoins were sold. The statement from Gerovich clarified public doubts regarding whether such large transfers represented sales.
