New Arizona law helps crypto ATM scam victims recover $171,332

According to CoinMeta, Arizona has recovered $171,332 for victims of crypto scams under a new law. The law requires operators to refund eligible fraudulent transactions, and since it took effect last year, 35 victims have received full refunds. Arizona Attorney General Chris Myers stated that her office has helped obtain these refunds since the state's Cryptocurrency Self-Service Terminal Licensing Fraud Prevention Law came into effect on September 26, 2025. According to data from FBI, in 2025, Arizona residents filed 460 complaints regarding crypto scams, reporting losses of $14.53 million. Nationally, FBI received a total of 13,460 complaints related to ATM, with losses approaching $389 million, representing increases of 23% and 58% respectively.
