UK Financial Conduct Authority in settlement talks with HTX over illegal promotion of crypto services
2026-08-13 19:24:22
According to CoinMeta, as reported by CNA, the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and cryptocurrency exchange HTX are in settlement negotiations regarding allegations that the firm illegally promoted crypto services in the UK. FCA sued HTX last October, accusing it of violating UK financial promotion regulations that came into effect in 2023; this was also the first time the FCA had filed a lawsuit against a crypto company's marketing practices. The litigation proceedings have been suspended by the High Court of London, giving both parties two months until late August to resolve the dispute. FCA and HTX have both refused to comment on the progress of the negotiations.
