Citi Group CEO: Stablecoin Incentive Bill Will Be Beneficial to the Financial System
2026-08-14 09:31:44
According to CoinMeta, Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser stated that although they are still pushing for changes to the terms regarding stablecoin rewards in the Clarity Act, they hope that a comprehensive bill will be passed and believe that such legislation will be beneficial to the financial system. The compromise in this bill prohibits platforms from paying rewards solely based on users' holding of stablecoins, but allows for rewards to be provided based on transactions and payments. Fraser indicates that stablecoin deposit rewards may lead to a flow of funds out of traditional banks, weakening the ability of banks to provide loans and credit in certain regions.
