Crypto: Enhanced liquidity of crypto assets, but doubts remain regarding the understanding of ownership
2026-08-15 03:08:46
According to CoinMeta, CryptoPolicy stated that while encryption technology makes asset transfers easier, it does not necessarily lead to a clearer understanding of ownership. Although tokens can be traded 24/7, settled in seconds, and stored in personal wallets, users are still unsure of how to handle issues that arise. For example, if the secondary market were to disappear tomorrow, would users be able to redeem their tokens directly? If the issuer freezes redemptions, could users file claims with the issuer, a special purpose vehicle, or the underlying assets? These questions seem more important than whether tokens can be instantly transferred between wallets. Encryption technology performs well in proving user control over tokens, but the more difficult question is whether tokens provide enforceable rights to claim in the event that normal markets cease to operate.
