Grayscale Research Director: Combining Ethereum Staking Mechanism with Fiscal Policy
2026-08-15 09:59:50
According to CoinMeta, Zach Pandl, the head of grayscale research, stated that Ethereum is akin to a "mini-country." The network rewards stakers by issuing ETH. Therefore, the staking mechanism, along with the issuance of ETH, can be seen as a combination of fiscal and monetary policies. He pointed out that increasing staking and security investments helps to enhance network security, but it also means issuing more ETH, which may exacerbate risks such as the concentration of large staking service providers. In addition, he believes that Ethereum's current issuance mechanism does not fully take into account key staking ratios such as 1/3, 1/2, and 2/3, which are crucial for determining finality and fork choices, and this is one of the core issues currently debated in the community.
