According to CoinMeta, senior engineer OpenAI has been reported to have left the company. He was among the early technical staff of OpenAI, joining in 2016 along with Dario Amodei, Jack Clark, and others. Prior to that, he focused on performance optimization of GPU in deep learning at Nervana Systems, and had long been engaged in work related to low-level performance and GPU. In the early stages, he directly wrote GPU assembly and kernel. Gray is listed among the contributors to Sparse Transformer, Scaling Laws, GPT-3, and GPT-4. Recently, there have been consecutive changes in senior and core personnel at OpenAI, including the departures of Brad Lightcap, Denise Dresser, Fidji Simo, and others.
