Coinbase Bitcoin Premium Index Sets a New Record for the Longest Consecutive Negative Premium Period
2026-08-16 11:23:50
According to CoinMeta, data from CoinMeta shows that the Bitcoin premium index for Coinbase has been negative for 90 consecutive days from May 19th to August 16th, with the latest reading at -0.1066%, setting a new record for the longest consecutive negative premium period in history. This index is used to measure the price difference between Coinbase Pro and Binance. A continuously negative index usually indicates that the pricing for Coinbase is relatively lower, reflecting weak buying interest or significant selling pressure in the US market. However, this alone cannot be used to conclude that institutional funds are continuously flowing out.
