According to CoinMeta, as reported by Cointelegraph, the anonymous founder of DeFiLlama, 0xngmi, stated that due to the long-term existence of phishing apps impersonating the platform on Apple’s App Store, the team decided to postpone the release of the official mobile app. The team reported the malicious apps to Apple for several months with no result, until they recorded the process of the apps stealing funds, after which Apple removed them from the store. 0xngmi decided to release the official app only after all the counterfeit apps were cleared to prevent users from being deceived. There have been instances of fake apps impersonating Rabby wallets and Curve Finance in the past, and in November 2023, a fake Ledger Live app on the Microsoft Store led to the theft of 38 transactions totaling $588,000.
