Binance Shares User Data with Moscow, Involving Ukrainian Crypto Donations
2026-08-17 17:55:33
According to CoinMeta, Binance shared user data with Russian authorities, involving a IT employee Yuri Belenkiy who was accused of terrorist financing for donating over $700 in cryptocurrency to a fundraising group in Ukraine. Although Binance claimed to have completely withdrawn from Russia in 2023, the latest documents show that Russian investigators are still contacting Binance through compliance channels, requesting transaction records of Belenkiy. The records provided by Binance show that he made relevant transfers, including information such as date of birth, address, phone number, and passport details. This incident has raised questions about how Binance was able to share user data after withdrawing from the market.
