2026-08-18 02:23:15
According to CoinMeta, the “Quantum Migration” is imminent, with over $2 trillion in digital assets at risk, which is nearly the total value of the entire crypto market. Researchers are making progress towards developing quantum computers that could undermine the mathematical assumptions currently used to protect cryptocurrencies and other blockchain assets. Christopher Smith, co-founder and CEO of Quantus, stated that the entire digital asset industry needs to replace its encryption infrastructure before the arrival of quantum computers. Smith warns that over $2 trillion in digital assets are protected by elliptic curve cryptography, which has been considered vulnerable to quantum computers for over 30 years.
