This week, China’s LPR may unexpectedly cut interest rates

According to CoinMeta, analysts suggest that there may be an unexpected interest rate cut this week in China's loan market ( LPR ). The current analysis regards this LPR decision as a real-time event, rather than a mere formality. This shift is due to China's usual reluctance to adopt widespread stimulus measures, driven by a series of weak data points in July, including industrial output, retail sales, housing prices, and PMI all falling short of expectations. At the same time, bank credit has seen a record contraction, and a rate cut could directly help address this issue. The resilience of the RMB against the US dollar, which is near a three-and-a-half-year high, is a key factor that eliminates the adverse constraints of a rate cut potentially leading to depreciation. The market generally expects some form of stimulus measures this year, but they may not be introduced until after the Fifth Plenary Session in October.
