According to CoinMeta, on Tuesday, U.S. Treasury yields rose, with long-term yields soaring to their highest level in over two decades due to the ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran. In the early hours of Tuesday, the yield on 30-year U.S. Treasuries increased by more than 1 basis point, trading at around 5.322%, near its highest level since 2002. The yield on 10-year Treasuries, which serve as a major benchmark for mortgage, auto loan, and credit card debt, also rose by more than 1 basis point to reach 4.736%. The yield on 2-year Treasuries remained unchanged at 4.186%, which is typically in line with short-term Federal Reserve interest rate decisions. Oil prices rose as the 60-day deadline for reaching a peace agreement between the U.S. and Iran expired on Monday, and Iran ruled out the possibility of extending that deadline. Jim Reid from Deutsche Bank noted in his report on Tuesday that the market weakened over the past 24 hours, with bonds and stocks declining due to negative geopolitical developments in the Middle East.
