Rising sovereign yields threaten tech financing and the crypto market

According to CoinMeta, long-term government bond yields have risen to levels not seen in decades, with investors facing a wave of debt issuance and concerns about sovereign finances. The U.S. government debt is approaching $40 trillion, and the yield on 30-year U.S. Treasury bonds has reached 5.33%, the highest level since 2007. Meanwhile, British government bond yields are close to 6%, and France's borrowing costs have reached their highest level since 2008. Crude oil prices have surpassed $84 per barrel, up 25% from July's lows. Goldman Sachs expects that the total amount of bond issuance this year will reach $400 billion. Higher yields may attract capital away from speculative assets, and gold and Bitcoin, as non-yielding assets, theoretically become less attractive as yields rise. Nevertheless, gold has risen by 10% this month, indicating that investors may see bond sales as a loss of confidence in sovereign financial credibility. Bitcoin has not performed well in the past nine months and is currently hovering above $64,000.
