Bitcoin and Ethereum prices fluctuate as the standoff in Iran continues

According to CoinMeta, on August 18, 2026, Bitcoin ( BTC ) opened at $64,487.65, up 2.7% from Monday. By 9:19 a.m. Eastern Time, the price of Bitcoin had fallen to $64,080.23. Ethereum ( ETH ) opened at $1,911.89, up 2% from Monday, but by the same time, its price had dropped to $1,895.37. Due to the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, the prices of Bitcoin and Ethereum fell in the early hours of Tuesday; since the start of the wars, Bitcoin has declined by 4.4%, and Ethereum by 5.7%. In contrast, the price of gold futures fell by 14.7% during the same period. Analysts have differing opinions on whether digital currencies will continue to decline. Kalshi predicts that the market will see Bitcoin prices ranging between $65,000 and $69,999.99 by the end of the year.
