According to CoinMeta, against the backdrop of the AI craze and energy shocks, the growth trends of Southeast Asian economies have diverged. Vietnam continues to maintain its position as the fastest-growing large economy in Southeast Asia, while Thailand has performed weakly. Malaysia and Singapore rank second and third, benefiting from strong demand for semiconductors and other components in the global technology supply chain. Like Thailand, the Philippines has also been affected by the soaring energy costs caused by conflicts in the Middle East. In addition, a sharp decline in infrastructure spending has further dragged down Philippine growth. Economies with key enterprises in the technology supply chain related to artificial intelligence have shown greater resilience, whereas those more vulnerable to expensive imported energy have gradually lost momentum. Economists at DBS Bank stated that the varying growth patterns among countries depend on their domestic resilience during the Middle East crisis and their reliance on technology exports in their trade structures.
