Mortgage loan rates continue to rise: Whether 30-year rates can fall remains to be seen
2026-08-19 13:38:50
According to CoinMeta, mortgage loan rates rose for the third consecutive day on Tuesday, with the 30-year fixed mortgage rate reaching 6.75%. Although bond conditions improved slightly, the timing of lending institutions' pricing led to this mismatch. Data from Zillow shows that the mortgage rate is at 7.05%, a figure that keeps the 30-year fixed rate temporarily below the psychologically significant 7% mark. Most forecasters expect that rates will not return to near 5% for the remainder of 2026, although a few believe that if the Federal Reserve cuts interest rates again, mortgage rates may gradually move closer to 6%.
